My name is Helena and I was born and raised in Finland. I moved to Italy in 1981 and have been living in Rome ever since. I’m a mother and a grandmother which I love! My many hobbies include reading, knitting and crafts in general and I love photography and traveling. And food.
My passion is cooking. I find cooking relaxing, many days I have what I call “cooking marathons” when you find me in the kitchen for hours preparing two or three or maybe even four different dishes. With this blog I’d like to share with you this passion of cooking homemade meals. I’m always looking for and experimenting new recipes but of course I have some oldies and goodies that are always a hit. I know nothing better than to prepare a nice homemade meal for my family and friends. I love Italian food so most of the recipes are from Italian cuisine but there are also Finnish and Greek recipes thrown in the midst and I’ve tried my hand with some international recipes as well. We are lucky to have a farmer’s market right across the street and that’s where I usually buy the seasonal veggies and fruit. The fishmonger and the butcher also know me very well.
Most recipes in this blog are simple and fast to prepare with step-by-step instructions. I have to confess that I’m not a stickler for details so, even though I write down the measurements, sometimes 2 tbls of olive oil in a recipe is just not enough. Also many times you can substitute basil for rosemary, thyme for oregano and so fort. Use your creativity and tastebuds like I do. All the photos are mine unless otherwise noted, so please ask, if you want to share them.
